Chats Palace has been running performances
and arts activities for over 30 years in the former Homerton Library.
We have a flexible performance space (capacity 96 seated or 250
standing), a bar area which is also used for informal performances,
a rehearsal studio, a meeting / study room and a workshop, as
well as office space.
Chats Palace hosts over 200 performances
a year blending music, cabaret, theatre, dance, film and spoken
word. Our performance programme blends professional companies
with local talent and self-generated events, including performances
by Chats's Youth Live! performance groups, outreach projects,
workshop participants, and the Carnival Club, which brings out
a MAS Band for the Notting Hill Carnival every year.
Chats Palace's outreach programmes
aim to involve individuals and communities at the margins of society,
using the arts to build skills and confidence and to help troubled
people make a positive impact on their situations and society.
In the year 2005-06 Chats Palace
hosted 316 performance events attended by 17,398 people, and 1,492
workshops / outreach sessions, attended by 17,569 people. We also
host rehearsals, meetings and talks, and have darkroom facilities,
visual arts workshop and piano available for casual use.
