Upstairs in the Sky
Quicksilver Theatre has a strong
reputation for our work for 3-5 year olds. Our plays for this
age group are carefully researched and are based on the philosophy
of small shows for small people in small places, in small amounts,
at the right time of day about things that matter to them. Presented
in a warm intimate style, they ensure a gentle introduction to
the fun and drama of theatre.
Upstairs in the Sky, a play by Carey
English and Guy Holland is an interactive project inspired by
the pre-schools of Reggio Emilia in Italy. The play is performed
with open-ended play materials e.g. tubes, boxes and materials
of different shapes and textures, to create the world of the play
in the children's imagination. At the end of the play the children
get to play with the props, costumes and set!
The play can also be accompanied
by INSET and Education Resource Materials for teachers, to enable
continued development of open-ended play in the classroom.
"The play was amazing…it was
magical."

materials themselves."
